Marla Gilson, Director of Hadassah's Washington Action Office - Guest Speaker

Please join us as Marla Gilson speaks on the topic of "What Now?" with an emphasis on what the upcoming elections mean with regard to Hadassah's four advocacy issues: U.S.-Israel relations, the Iranian threat, health care reform, and energy and the environment. She will discuss how she thinks the new President would address these issues. It promises to be interesting and enlightening. Don't miss it!
Marla Gilson is the director of Hadassah's Washington Action Office, a post she has held since 1997. Hadassah is the largest women's membership organization in the U.S. Marla is a registered lobbyist, and advocates on health policy, domestic legislation, and U.S.-Israel relations. Her background includes extensive legislative, political, managerial, and administrative experience. Marla has been working on or around Capitol Hill for more than 30 years: on Capitol Hill for Congresswoman Bella Abzug (D-NY) and Congressman Bob Traxler (D-MI), and around the Hill as the Director of Community Relations and registered lobbyist at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and director of the Washington Office of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. She also worked in the Presidential campaigns of Mondale/Ferraro, and Dukakis/Bentsen, and the Senate re-election campaign of Paul Sarbanes. Marla helped create the Coalition for Genetic Fairness, and is currently on its executive committee. She serves on the board of the Coalition for Advanced Medical Research (CAMR) and is a member of the Board of Governors of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.
