The best preparation for leading a Jewish life is learning skills and the meaning behind our practices. Bet Sefer Avraham strives to ensure that every child who graduates from our program has the knowledge and skills to continue their Jewish learning through their teen years and into adulthood.
Our program begins with one day a week on Tuesdays from 4-6 pm for K-2nd graders, and twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6 pm for 3rd to 7th graders.
Our goals are to make sure our students:
Never feel like a stranger in a synagogue
Feel part of a Jewish community where they can thrive
Understand and be familiar with the rituals and practices of Jewish life
Feel comfortable attending and participating in a Shabbat or weekday service
Understand the meaning behind and practices of Jewish holidays
Understand the stories contained in Jewish texts
Feel a strong connection with the State of Israel
Understand and feel committed to Jewish values and ethics
We welcome you to join us as we continue to infuse our students with Jewish pride, learning and interest. Contact Bet Sefer Director Susan Simon at susan@tbaoakland.org, or 510.663.1683 for more information. (Note, we have a special Bet Sefer cell phone number on during school: 415.314.7427)
